Nu-Wall & Flashman - Working hand-in-hand

The Flashman Window and Door Flashing System has been tested in rain and wind speeds of 232 Kph and therefore verified as well exceeding the weathertightness performance requirements of the New Zealand Building Code. As a result of this rigorous testing the system is specified extensively on projects for remediation of leaky buildings throughout New Zealand. Windows and doors necessitate penetrations through the cladding envelope, and it is these areas which pose the biggest potential risk for water ingress to the building structure. It has been identified by the Department of Building and Housing that 50% of leaks in leaky homes occur at the window- and door-to-cladding junctions.

A significant benefit arising through incorporating the Flashman system in an installation of Nu-Wall cladding is that of achieving weathertightness at the window and door penetrations independently of either the cladding or joinery elements. Cladding and joinery can be installed with confidence that absolute weathertightness is provided by the Flashman system; additionally, the system removes any necessity for the synchronisation of the installations of these two elements.

Any additional cost associated with incorporation of the Flashman system is offset by deletion of certain items of the standard Nu-Wall system, and by a reduction in the time taken to install the cladding around windows and doors. The Flashman system is always installed by their own distributors or installers who provide a 10 year Installation Warranty, 15 year Product Warranty, and a Producer Statement for the Consenting Authority.

At Nu-Wall we unreservedly endorse specification of the Flashman system for incorporation in an installation of our product. Like Nu-Wall, the Flashman system has been appraised by BRANZ and because of this Appraisal process any Building Consent application featuring the two products should encounter no obstacles to gaining approval.
